'Tis the season for cutting, trimming and pruning.Â
But what do you do with all the grass and limbs once you pretty up your yard?
Here are five things you need to know about disposing of those scraps:
1. Peters Township Public Works Department will pick up bundled branches every other Monday (unless it is a holiday—in which case the pickup will fall on a Tuesday).
2. Now that you know when to put those branches out, you should know how. The township asks that branches be placed in small, separarate piles no wider than 18 inches in diameter and no longer than 4 feet. Single limbs must be no bigger than 5 inches in diameter and about 10-ft in length, and should be placed separately from the above mentioned piles. Please note: The route driver can refuse pick up of your yard waste if the above guidelines are not followed.
3. Want to make sure your branches are picked up? Call and schedule it! To schedule a branch pick-up, call the public works at 724-941-6161. The branch pick-up crew begins work at 7 a.m.
4. Got bagged grass? During mowing season, residents may place grass clippings in brown paper bags or regular trash bags that weigh 40 pounds or less at the curb for collection. For more information click here.
5. Have other yard waste? Did you know you can burn it? "Other yard waste may be burned, including tree waste, during normal burning days and times," the township website indicates. Residents may burn yard waste from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Â
