PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA — Coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, which means there is even more reason to celebrate this Independence Day. July 4 is almost here, so it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you.

In Peters, fireworks will occur before Independence Day. A display will conclude the annual Peters Township Community Day on June 29. The event will include more than 150 food, craft, games, children’s activities and entertainment for the entire family.

Closer to the actual holiday, and close to Peters, Canonsburg will host a Fourth of July parade and celebration on July 3. The event begins with the Whiskey Rebellion 5K run at 7:45 a.m. The parade will occur at 10 a.m. There will be activities at Canonsburg's Town Park from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., with fireworks at dusk.

Those seeking a traditional July 4 fireworks display can see one in nearby Upper St. Clair, or drive to Pittsburgh to see the city's large display at Point State Park.
