Arrangements Set For Former WPXI-TV Reporter Stuart Brown

The veteran newsman died Sunday at the age of 86.

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA - Arrangements have been made for Stuart Brown, the longtime WPXI-TV reporter who died Sunday at 86.

Visitation will occur Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon at Beinhauer - Peters Township, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray. Interment will follow at Washington Cemetery in Washington.

Mr. Brown was raised in Philadelphia and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, according to an obituary on the Beinhauer website. He worked for KYW-AM radio in Philadelphia and then at KDKA-AM in Pittsburgh from 1968 through 1974. After freelancing for WQED-TV, he worked for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette before moving to WPXI. He spent more than two decades there before his retirement.

During his career, Mr. Brown interviewed Martin Luther King, Jr., Mickey Mantle, President Richard Nixon and President Bill Clinton. Mr. Brown also was the author of the book the book “A Man Named Tony: The True Story of the Yablonski Murders.” The book was about United Mine Workers labor leader Joseph "Jock" Yablonski, who was murdered along with family members in 1969 by killer hired by UMW president Tony Boyle.

Mr. Brown is survived by his sons, Jason Brown and Evan (Charlotte) Brown.
