Joe Grushecky & The Houserockers To Christen Amphitheater

Legendary local rocker and Bruce Springsteen pal will be the first performer at the new Peterswood Park venue.

PETERS TOWNSHIP - A rock and roll heavy hitter will christen the new Peterswood Park amphitheater next month. Joe Grushecky, who has performed with and written songs with Bruce Springsteen, will play there along with his band the Houserockers at 6 p.m. on June 3.

Also appearing at the grand opening will be opening acts by Peters Township High School students and the Oh My Grill and Caustelot Creamery food trucks.

Grushecky kicks off a busy schedule this summer at the new $460,000 amphitheater that replaces the deteriorating one built in the 1980s that was razed last year. Other events that will be held there:

  • June 11, 1 p.m.: See the Summer (folk rock), Kona ice truck.
  • July 5, 7 pm.: Jeff Jimerson & Airborne (variety-dance), Franktuary food truck.
  • July 9, 1 p.m.: American Pie (oldies).
  • July 14, 7 p.m.: Broadway Musical Review, provided by Abbey Players, Youth Theater.
  • July 19, 7 p.m.: Totally 80’s (1980’s tribute), Pittsburgh Crepes food truck.
  • Aug. 2, 7 p.m.: Bruce in the USA (tribute to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band).
  • Aug. 4, 7 p.m.: “The Final Curtain” (musical review), presented by Peters Township Thespian Troupe 185 & Friends.
  • Aug. 11, 7 p.m.: Comedy Night featuring Doc Dixon and Auggie Cook.
  • Aug. 13, 1 p.m.: Allegheny Brass Band.
  • Aug. 16, 7 p.m.: The Joseph Sisters (country).
  • Sept. 10, 1 p.m. Scott & Rosanna (acoustic folk rock).
  • Sept. 16, 1 p.m.: Teen Talent Show
  • Sept. 17, 2 p.m.: “The Big Bad” Children’s Theater, provided by Abbey Players, Youth Theater
  • Sept. 24, 1 p.m: Well Strung (bluegrass), Caustelot Creamery food truck
