Pet Expo Tops 5 Weekend Things To Do Around Peters

There's also Disney on Ice, a Houserockers performance and more.

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA - The world’s only traveling self-contained stingray exhibit isn’t like the Harlem Globetrotters, who have appeared in Pittsburgh annually since prehistoric times. The stingray exhibit doesn’t often stop in town.

It will this weekend as part of the Pittsburgh Pet Expo at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, which is more than just stingrays. The expo also includes the North American Diving Dogs, the Flying Houndz Frizbee Trick Dog Show and the National Dachshund Races.

There’s also the Steel City Reptile Expo, That Guy With The Birds, celebrity appearances, Santa Paws Pet Photos, Ask the Vet, and more than 200 vendor booths of fantastic pet products and services.

Pittsburgh Pet Expo tickets are $10, with discounted rates available for seniors and veterans. Kids under 10 are free. The expo will occur Friday from 5-9 p.m., Saturday from 10 am. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Disney on Ice Presents Frozen, Nov. 3, 7 p.m.; Nov. 4, 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Nov. 5, noon, 4 p.m., PPG Paints Arena, Downtown.

Get ready for amazing cakes inspired by classic, modern and original masterpieces in art, plus an open wine and beer bar, entertainment, delicious hors d'oeuvres from DiAnoia's Eatery, a silent auction and more. The event features the creations of, among others, Aundrea Ambeliotis of Mediterra Bakehouse, Kaylie Carini of Hydeholde Restaurant, Katrina Finn and Crystal Francis of Crystal's Cakery and Brandi Hugar of Gr andview Bakery.

  • Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, Nov. 4, 8. P.m., Lamp Theater, Irwin

As the legendary local rocker says on his website, “We are returning to the Lamp Theater where I spent many an evening when I was a young boy. The Elvis and TAMI Show movies I saw there threw gasoline on the fire of my rock and roll dreams.” Watch Grushecky and the Hosuerockers ignite on stage along with special guest Jimmy Gaines.
Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers tickets are $18.

  • Truck Yeah! Nov. 3, 5-9 p.m. Pittsburgh Food Truck Park, Millvale Riverfront Park, Millvale

This preview of the Food Truck Park slated to formally open in the park next spring is kid-friendly and will include live music by Johnny Walylko and Pete Peters. Among the food trucks that will be there: Pittsburgh Sandwich Society, Coop Chicken and Waffles, Franktuary, Nakama, Pgh Po’Boy, Pittsburgh Smokehouse, Doce Taqueria and Sinkers and Suds. There also will be 12 local independent craft beers and two wines on tap.
Admission to Truck Yeah! is free.
