Peters Gas Prices: Where Are The Cheapest Fill-Ups?

TJ’s Deli Mart in North Strabane doesn’t just sell sandwiches and soft drinks. It also offers Peters residents the cheapest gas option locally.

TJ’s, on Washington Road, is selling a gallon of regular unleaded for $2.35 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.com. Other low-price options to fill up include:

• GetGo, Washington Road near East McMurray Road: $2.39

• BP, Washington Road near West McMurray Road: $2.39

• BP, Washington Road near East McMurray Road: $2.39

• Marosz Service, Washington Road near Brookside Boulevard: $2.44

The average price per gallon in the Pittsburgh area is $2.52, according to AAA. That’s 45 cents higher than a year ago.

The Pittsburgh average is higher than the $2.48 average across the state, which is higher than the current national average of $2.29 per gallon.

In Pennsylvania, an 8-cent per gallon gas tax increase went into effect in January. The state’’s wholesale tax is 58 cents per gallon, the highest such levy in the country.
