PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA - The Pennsylvania Ballet Conservatory will open in Peters Sept. 10 providing classical ballet performance for children between the ages of 2 and 18. The school is located at 123 Hidden Valley Road, lower level.
Vanessa Haidar and David Martinez Coro, both former dancers with the National Ballet of Cuba, will be the school’s instructors and artistic directors. The pair both have degrees in dance instruction and have taught ballet at studios in Pennsylvania, Florida and Texas.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of this incredible new school,” Haidar said in a statement. “It’s such an incredible opportunity to be a part of building a studio from the ground up. It really gives us a chance to structure the classes in ways that will be most beneficial to students.”
The school will include classes for pre-school, elementary, intermediate, middle school and high school students. It will also include an early dismissal program for high school students. Pennsylvania Ballet Conservatory plans to produce an annual Nutcracker performance at the holidays, as well as a spring performance.
The school will primarily concentrate on classical ballet, which includes ballet technique, pointe, repertoire/variations and partnering. To help round out dancers’ skills, students will also learn contemporary, jazz, flamenco and character dances.
