Peters Historical Society Holding 50th Anniversary Celebration
Tours of historic Wright House, log cabin among the activities planned for this weekend.

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA - The Peters Township Historical Society will celebrate its 50 anniversary with a full slate of activities this weekend.
The events will occur on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. and include tours of the Wright House, which is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, The house was built about 1815 by Enoch Wright on land he inherited from his father, Joshua, who moved to the area about 1772. Wright family members lived in the house until 1862, then they rented it out. In 1972 they donated the house to the historical society, which uses it as a museum.
Tours also will be given of the authentic 1780’s-era squared-log house the historical society relocated from West Finley Township to the Wright House grounds in Venetia. There also will be a quilt display, food, period re-enactors, music, a blacksmith and children’s games.
