Peters Native Qualifies for Wimbledon

Alison Riske will take on the no. 31 seed in the first round.

Peters Township native Ali Riske has qualified to play in the Wimbledon for the third time in four years, according to the Tribune Review.

The 22-year-old will face Romina Oprandi, the no. 31 seed in the tournament, in the first round Monday or Tuesday.

Riske qualified for the most coveted tournament in tennis after making it to the semifinals of the WTA AEGON Classic in Birmingham. She lost to the former no. 5 player in the world, Daniela Hantuchova.

Riske is ranked 126 in the world.
