Peters Ponders Bower Hill Road Slowdown Plan

Residents have until the end of the month to decide if they want rumble strips and speed bumps to curb speeding motorists.

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA - Residents along a stretch of Bower Hill Road have until the end of the month to decide whether they went steps taken to reduce traffic speeds in the area.

The township is considering several traffic calming measures on Bower Hill from Springdale Road to Bebout Road:

  • The installation of rumble strips from Bebour Road to 644 Bower Hill Road.
  • The installation of speed bumps near 615 and 635 Bower Hill Road.
  • A three-way stop sign at the intersection of Bower Hill Road and Snyder Road.

For those steps to be taken, residents of Bower Hill between Springdale Bebout and the Woodlands of Peters Township must vote to approve the plan before it goes before council. Residents have been sent paper ballots and also can vote online. The voting deadline is June 30.

If residents and then council proceed with the speed reduction steps, additional measures could be taken in six months if the mitigation effort isn’t successful. They would include another speed bump near 679 Bower Hill Road and a raised intersection at Walnut Drive.
