Peters Township Library To Hold 60th Anniversary Bash
Free copies of "The Cat in the Hat" will be given away to help mark the occasion.

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA - If it seems as though 1957 was a long time ago, that’s because it was. Dwight Eisenhower was president. Toyota began selling cars in America. Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock” was a big hit at the box office.
And the Peters Township Public Library opened.
To mark that landmark anniversary, the library will have an open house on Oct. 22 from noon to 3 p.m. The birthday celebration will include live music, a balloon artist, photo booth, prize wheel, birthday cake and ice cream. Not only that, the first 100 children attending the festivities will receive a complimentary copy of “The Cat in the Hat,” published, you guessed it, in 1957.

“We have cardholders that we haven’t seen in awhile either due to outstanding fines or misplaced materials, and we simply want to welcome them back with a special surprise to celebrate the library’s 60th birthday,” Oleynik said.
