Peters Township Police Charge Businessman with Theft

George Retos has been charged with three counts of theft—all felonies.

Peters Township police this week charged a Washington businessman with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception and theft by failing to make the required deposits.

All three counts against George Retos, 63, are felonies, according to online court records. The charges stem from an August incident, according to court dockets.

According to the Observer-Reporter newspaper, Retos allegedly failed to repay $87,000 he received via checks from his girlfriend’s mother.

Retos was arraigned before district Judge Valarie Costanzo Tuesday night. He was released on $50,000 unsecured bond.

He is scheduled to appear before district Judge James Ellis at 2 p.m. May 7 for a preliminary hearing.
