Peters Township Residents Collecting Medical Equipment for Nonprofit

Needed: Walkers, crutches, canes, wheelchairs and more.

The residents in the Cranmoor townhouse community on West McMurray Road in Peters Township have announced they are collecting used but durable medical equipment.

The donations collected will be given to Brother’s Brother Foundation—a nonprofit located at 1200 Galveston Avenue on the city’s North Side.

"I think it's a worthwhile cause," said Jane Evans, who has spearheaded the effort.

She said she heard about Brother's Brother Foundation, which provides the equipment to people in need free of charge from her job at CVS. She said a pediatric nurse from Allegheny General Hospital had inquired whether anyone ever drops off used medical equipment such as crutches at the store.

After thinking it over, she had a blurb run in a community newsletter, and pretty soon her neighbors were calling to arrange the drop off of crutches and more.
