Peters Township School District Revises Attendance Policy

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA - The Peters Township School District has revised its attendance policy for the upcoming school year to be compliant with updates to state truancy laws. Days missed for educational trips now will be included in the total 10 days that can be excused with a parental note; students missing more than 10 days will be required to submit a doctor’s excuse for every subsequent absence.

Details on what the state considers an excused or lawful absence with a parental note are detailed in Administrative Regulation 1 of School Board Policy 204 Attendance. In addition, parents will also find in the document procedures that will be followed for unexcused absences.

Parents should note that the educational trip form has been updated to include these new regulations.. Forms must be completed 5 days prior to the proposed absence.Those with questions regarding the changes should contact their child’s school principal.
