Visitation Set For Bakery Owner Killed By Falling Tree Limb

Kara Leo, the owner of Kara Kakes in Mt. Lebanon, died when a tree limb fell on her during a hike. Her husband was critically injured.

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA — Visitation has been scheduled for Kara Leo, 40, the owner of Kara Kakes in Mt. Lebanon, who died Thursday after she and her husband were struck by a falling tree limb in Boyce-Mayview Park in Upper St. Clair.

Ms. Leo's husband, Jared Quinteros, was critically injured in the accident, which occurred while the couple was hiking.

Ms. Leo's family and friends will be received Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Beinhauer-Peters Township on Washington Road in McMurray.

A GoFundMe page has been established to help the family. According to Tamara Steiger, a friend of Ms. Leo who created the page, Quinteros is paralyzed as a result of the accident.

"Kara's boys are going to need a lot of love, care, and support without their wonderful mother there by their side anymore," Steiger wrote.

"Her husband will be dealing (not only) with the loss of his wife but part of his body, too. He is going to need to revamp his whole life missing his other piece. In lieu of flowers, etc., any donation is welcome to help Kara's boys revamp their lives."
