Washington Co. Organizations March to End Violence
The event is Saturday, Oct. 5 and includes organizations from throughout Washington County.

Organizations from throughout Washington County are coming together this weekend in a March Against Violence being held in the City of Washington.
The family-friendly event is Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Old Main building on the Washington & Jefferson College campus.
The event schedule is as follows:
- 10:00 a.m.: General Gathering, welcome speech, and Benediction by Pastor James York
- 10:20 a.m.:Â Speaker: Becky Kelley, the sister-in-law of Vince Kelly who was killed over the summer when he tried to stop a bank robber at the Giant Eagle in South Strabane Township.
- 10:30 a.m.: Speaker: Elwin Green, manager of www.homewoodnation.com and a community activist in Homewood, PA. Through homewoodnation.com, Elwin inspires and informs neighbors in order to promote working toward a safe and prosperous community through peace marches, tree plantings, community meetings, community movie nights, and Operation Better Block.
- 10:40 a.m.:Â MC launches community march. The march will follow
- College Street to Highland Avenue, then to Main Street, to the Crime Victims' Memorial Garden on Cherry Avenue, then to Wheeling Street and back to College Street.
- 11:20 a.m.  Speaker: Mayor Davis
- 11:30 a.m.  Invocation: Carley Adams (W&J Student)
- 11:35 a.m.:Â MC - Brief Closing
Several community and county organizations will have tables at the event, including:
- Washington County Crime Victim & Witness Assistance Program
- Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services (SPHS)
- Sexual Trauma Treatment & Recovery Services (STTARS)
- Guardians of the Memorial Garden
- PERSAD
- Tri-County Patriots for Independent Living (TRIPIL)
- Neighborhood Watch/Washington Police Deptartment
- Washington Women’s Shelter
- Academy for Adolescent Health (Teen Outreach)
