100th 6ABC/Dunkin' Philly Thanksgiving Parade: What To Know

PHILADELPHIA — This year marks Philadelphia's 100th 6ABC/Dunkin' Thanksgiving Parade.

The parade will be held, of course, on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28 from 8 a.m. to noon.

It will start at 19th and JFK Boulevard, and proceeds east on JFK to 16th Street.

The route then turns left onto 16th Street and travels to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, turning left onto the Parkway.

It will then move up the Parkway, continue left around Logan Circle and will proceed up the south side lanes of the Parkway.

The parade will end after passing in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Metered Street parking is free on Thanksgiving Day. However, there will be parking limitations due to the parade.

No parking will be in effect beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 27 for the following areas:

• JFK Blvd from 19th Street to 30th Street (both sides of the street)
• 20th Street from Market Street to B.F. Parkway
• Arch Street between 19th & 22nd Street
• Race Street between 16th & 17th Street
• 17th Street from Vine Street to Race Street
• Eastbound lanes of Vine Street from 15th Street to 17th Street
• Market Street from 19th to 21st will be closed from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. on parade day

The following road closures will be in effect for the parade, as well:

Road Closures Tuesday, Nov. 26

• 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. – Eakins Oval between Kelly Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive closed for street rehearsals.

Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019

• 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Eakins Oval between Kelly Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive closed for street rehearsals.
• 6:30 p.m. – Eakins Oval closed for rehearsals and site build until conclusion of parade on Thursday, Nov. 28.
• 7 p.m. – Inbound lanes of John F. Kennedy Boulevard, from 20th Street to Schuylkill Avenue, will be closed to vehicular traffic until conclusion of parade on Thursday, Nov. 28.
• 9 p.m. – Outbound lanes of John F. Kennedy Boulevard, from 20th Street to Schuylkill Avenue, will be closed to vehicular traffic until conclusion of parade on Thursday, Nov. 28.

Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019

• 2 a.m. – Market Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 19th Street to 20th Street until conclusion of parade.
• 6 a.m. – Market Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 19th Street to 22nd Street until conclusion of parade.
• 7:30 a.m. – Parade route closed to vehicular traffic.

Roads will be opened as they are serviced and cleaned. All event-related road closures will be lifted no later than 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28.

Traffic delays can be expected during the event. Motorists are advised to avoid the area by using alternate routes and allow for extra driving time in areas near the event.

The Parade Zone, an open-air festival right in Eakins Oval, will feature all kinds of family fun.

American Heritage Credit Union will have a “Money Machine" on hand where you can try to grab as much real money as you can.

There will also be a massive community art wall, free Dunkin' coffee samples and giveaways, dancing in the Entertainment Zone and performances by the 747 Dance Band, RAM Truck tours, bean-bag toss, food by Carson Wentz's Thy Kingdom Crumb food truck and more, live animals from the Philadelphia Zoo, face painting, balloon artists, and much more.
