Southwest Airlines Victim A Wells Fargo Bank Executive, Mom Of 2

Jennifer Riordan leaves behind two children and a husband after she died from injuries suffered from an explosion on a flight.

PHILADELPHIA – Jennifer Riordan, a mother of two, wife, community activist, and banking executive died Tuesday in Philadelphia after an engine failure incident on Southwest Airlines flight 1380.

Riordan, a 43-year-old Albuquerque, New Mexico, resident, was an active member of the United Way of Central New Mexico, a Wells Fargo Community Relations vice president, a University of New Mexico graduate, a former New Mexico Broadcasters Association Board member, and much more to those who knew her and worked with her.

The Riordan family issued a statement calling her the "bedrock" of the family.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help the Riordan family in their time of loss.

"Anybody who knew Jen would agree, she would want us to celebrate her life instead of mourning our death," family friend Carrie Listek-Traub wrote on the page. "All money donated will go directly to her husband, Mike Riordan."

So far, nearly $1,000 has been raised of the $25,000 goal in 19 hours of the campaign going live.

"Her impact on everything and everyone she touched can never be fully measured," the family statement reads.

She leaves behind her husband, Michael, daughter Avery, and son Josh.

New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas issued a statement Tuesday expressing condolences for the loss of a compassionate community member.

"New Mexico is greatly saddened by the news of Jennifer Riordan's tragic death," Balderas said in the statement. "She was a dear friend and I was honored to work with her on financial literacy issues for over a decade. Jennifer was exceptionally active and passionate in working to improve our community and I express our sincerest condolences to her husband and children."

"Jennifer cheerfully championed so many causes in our region and was a real force for good," the United Way of Central New Mexico said in a statement. "We have so many wonderful memories of Jennifer’s willingness to connect people to each other and our community to a better path."

Alex Hernandez, who was enrolled in Wells Fargo Presidential Scholar Program and worked with Riordan during the program, mourned her passing on Twitter.

"So sad to hear of this news," Hernandez wrote. "Jennifer was an extraordinary woman who helped me immensely in my college career through the Wells Fargo Presidential Scholar Program."

"She was a well-known leader who was loved and respected," Wells Fargo said in a statement. "We extend our deepest sympathies to her family and friends."
