American Airlines Furloughing Over 1,000 Philly Airport Workers
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, more than 1,000 American Airlines workers are being furloughed at PHL.

PHILADELPHIA — The coronavirus is once again taking its toll on the airline industry in Philadelphia as a major airline announced hundreds of furloughs are coming.
According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, more than 1,000 American Airlines workers at the Philadelphia International Airport will be furloughed soon.
In total, 1,060 workers are being affected.

The notice states 28 people will be permanently laid off on April 1 or within two weeks after.
Additionally, 1,032 workers will be temporarily furloughed on April 10 or within 14 days thereafter

The notice states permanent and temporary layoffs are "related to COVID and the conditions created by the restrictions."
Back in October 2020, American Airlines laid off 31 employees and furloughed 1,869 due to the coronavirus.
American Airlines employs about 8,000 people at the Philadelphia International Airport.
