City Of Philadelphia To Provide Free, Online Adult Education

PHILADELPHIA – City residents can now sign up for free, online adult education classes scheduled to begin next month. Classes include reading, writing, math, basic computer classes, high school equivalency preparation, and English for speakers of other languages.

The City of Philadelphia has partnered with several community-based providers to provide the classes through a centralized enrollment and referral process. To enroll, residents should visit phila.gov/adult-education to find the campus closest to them, and call to speak with a learning coach who will help learners enroll in the right class for their schedule, goals, and skill level.

“We are glad to relaunch adult education services for residents. The pandemic has radically changed how we work and how we access information. Literacy and digital skills are more vital now than ever so residents can qualify for quality jobs,” said Deputy Mayor Cynthia Figueroa. “Math, language, and computer skills benefit every resident, household, and community. Learning is a lifelong venture, and we encourage Philadelphians to pursue their educational goals in the coming new year.”

Beginning this year, the City’s Office of Children and Families now oversees City-led adult education services and partnerships. More information and updates are available at phila.gov/adult-education.
