Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
The family-owned company that is known for dropping a 400-pound PEEP to usher in New Year's, as well as offering fans of the original marshmallow chicks, PEEP-flavored coffee creamer and cereal is about to fill the desire of one lucky PEEP-crazed fan who wants to step inside the hallowed halls of Just Born Quality Confections.
Borrowing a page from the recipe book of the iconic Willy Wonka, Just Born Confections, is opening its factory doors to the public for the first time ever. But the company will only allow one lucky nationwide sweepstakes winner the chance to take a sneak peak inside the House
of PEEPS.
The maker of PEEPS, as well as Peanut Chews, Mike and Ike and Hot Tamales is conducting a
nationwide contest to tour the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania plant. Before you run out looking to buy a package of the yellow, pink, blue or green marshmallow treat for a so-called golden ticket, Just Born is partnering with the non-profit United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley in which PEEPS-lovers must make a donation to UWGLV. The PEEPS Helping Peeps promotion is meant to support educational opportunities for children in the Lehigh Valley.
For every five dollars you donate, you will receive one chance to win. The more you donate, the more chances you will have. Money collected in the fund-raising effort will provide pre-school scholarships, support mentoring, summer learning experiences, mental health service, as
well as after school programs and many other initiatives.
Whoever holds the winning five dollar chance will have the opportunity to take along
three friends for the tour, get hotel and airfare if needed, plus they will get $250 to shop at the PEEPS and Company store. Now that is a lot of PEEPS merchandise to purchase for your peeps at home who could not tag along for the excursion.
The contest marks the first time Just Born will allow a member of the public the chance
to slip inside its factory to see how the candy chicks are hatched. Matt Pye, senior vice president of sales and marketing for the candy maker, says the company has received many requests over the years for tours as well as lovers of all things PEEPS and Peanut Chews who turn up at the front doors of the factory for a chance to step inside.
The contest is open now through April 18th. Anyone interested in participating in the initiative can donate at the UWGLV website www.unitedwayglv.org or by texting “peepsunited” to 40403.
