Philly DA Larry Krasner Wins Democratic Primary

Krasner's primary victory over challenger Carlos Vega sets him up for a race against Republican Charles Peruto in November.

Krasner, as of 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, has 65.12​ percent of the vote (103,195 votes), while opponent Carlos Vega has just 34.79​ percent (55,134 votes).

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia's District Attorney Larry Krasner was chosen by Democratic voters to be their DA for another potential four years after Tuesday's primary election.

Krasner, as of 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, has 65.12 percent of the vote (103,195 votes), while opponent Carlos Vega has just 34.79 percent (55,134 votes), according to uncertified results.

Those figures come from 1,631 of 1,703 voting divisions reporting results.

"Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign and realized that Philadelphia has to keep moving forward," Krasner said online. "I will spend the next four years fighting for people, for prevention, and for a justice system we can all be proud of."

Vega took to Twitter to following the results, thanking his supporters while sniping at Krasner.

"Thank you to our supporters, and most especially the victims of crime who bravely stood up when the establishment, the celebrities and the media decided they wouldn't listen," he said on Twitter. "This was not easy for the victims especially. Please remember them. Please give your thoughts to our city. I am hopeful that my opponent will take them more seriously during his tenure."

Krasner's win sets him up for a race with Republican Charles Peruto in November.

Peruto ran on the Republican ticket unopposed and earned 10,158 votes in Tuesday's primary.
