A Golden Girls Fans Cruise Set For 2020

Thank You For Being A Friend, Can You Pass The Sunscreen Again

Thank you for being a friend, can you put some sunscreen on my back again. You're a pal
and a confidant. With my apologies to songwriter Andrew Gold, I have taken some liberties with his iconic work that was the theme song for the NBC sitcom Golden Girls, but I couldn't resist when I heard that watchers of the show will be able to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime event.

“And if you threw a party, invited everyone you knew,” you assuredly would have a great time cruising with fans of the 1980's sitcom. GG watchers will be able to set sail on a five-night sea-escapade inspired by the antics of Blanche, Dorothy, Sophia and Rose.

Golden Girls At Sea: A Golden Girls Fan Cruise is scheduled to embark on the high
seas in February 2020 from Miami, which of course was home of the fearsome foursome.

Fans will be able to break out their favorite 80's fashions and weigh anchor on the
Celebrity Infinity for the nostalgic voyage. The itinerary will include Golden Girls trivia and a bar crawl, Dorothy's bingo, The Rusty Anchor Karaoke Party, Shady Pines Craft Corner and One
Night in St. Olaf Party, complete with a game of Ugel and Flugel. And what cruise would be complete without a Golden Girls Costume Contest.

Author James Colucci will also be on board to talk about his book Golden Girls Forever.

The five night Western Caribbean Cruise departs Miami on February 24, 2020 with
stops at Key West and Cozumel before returning to port on February 29th.

Get ready to pack your house coat, floral chiffon kimono and rhinestones accented
sweatshirt and make sure you have that wicker handbag for sitting pool side.

It is surprising that Disney Cruise Lines did not come up with this idea given the
fact that the Golden Girls is part of the Disney studios property after it was produced by its Touchstone Television division for seven seasons from 1985 until 1992.

Tickets for the cruise range from $986 to $1181 depending on accommodations on board.

The Golden Girls have been experiencing a renewed interest in pop-culture with reruns
of the series on the Hallmark channel. TV Guide says the ensemble program has been enjoying a resurgence in popularity among young viewers ever since repeats began airing on Lifetime. The show is also in reruns on the TV Land cable network as well as streaming on Hulu.

More than 25 years after the gals retired from the airwaves, there appears to be a
demand for the four. A limited edition Golden Girls breakfast cereal arrived exclusively on Target store shelves and online last year and quickly sold-out with eBay reporting that the multigrain,
blue-hued loops that were a “tasty treat, fun to eat,” were going for as much as $100 a box on its auction site. Perhaps the allure of the anime-style collectible Golden Girls vinyl figures tucked
away inside each of the boxes was the real “must get” attraction of the cereal.

Funko has also released a limited collection of vinyl figures of Sophia, Rose, Blanche and Dorothy. Online merchants also sell everything from coffee mugs, greeting cards, a Golden Girls Monopoly game to prayer candles featuring the four cast members in front of a stained glass backdrop.

Bon voyage!
