Scattered showers and thunderstorms could linger up until around 8 p.m. Friday, then isolated showers are possible between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.
The two-day wet streak could bring a flash flooding risk.
"The risk of flash flooding is a bit higher than average at this point for the parts of the central Appalachians, mid-Atlantic and southern New England, where the bulk of the rain from last weekend's storm occurred," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek said.
AccuWeather predicts Thursday will be the wettest day overall. "Motorists should expect slowdowns on the highways due to the downpours," forecasters said in a news release.
Things should clear by Saturday. Sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 80s are predicted to start off the weekend.
