PHILADELPHIA, PA — Life-threatening flash flooding was reported in Philadelphia following heavy storms on Monday.

The National Weather Service called a "Flash Flood Emergency," saying life-threatening flash flooding is underway in the city and surrounding areas, with numerous water rescues reported.

"Stay off the roads and move to higher ground if flood waters threaten," the NWS said.

The Tacony Creek in Cheltenham rose 6 feet in an hour and half, according to NWS data cited by The Weather Channel.
