Philly Detective Investigated For Allegedly Attending Trump Rally

A Philadelphia Police detective is being investigated by the department's internal affair bureau for allegedly attending the Jan. 6 rally.

PHILADELPHIA — The Internal Affairs Bureau of the Philadelphia Police Department in investigating a member of the force who allegedly attended the pro President Donald Trump rally-turned-siege on the United States Capitol building last week.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the bureau are looking into Det. Jennifer Gugger.

"We are aware of social media posts that allege that a Philadelphia Police Department detective may have been in attendance at the events on Washington, DC on January 6th," police said in a statement. "An IAB investigation has been opened to determine if any PPD policies were violated by the detective, and if they participated in any illegal activities while in attendance. The Detective's assignment has been changed pending the outcome of the investigation."

According to Action News, the investigation began after fellow officers saw a Philadelphia Police detective's social media posts, showing the Gugger at the Jan. 6 event.

Police did not say if they believe Gugger was among those who broke into the Capitol, according to NBC10.

Numerous arrests have been made in connection with the siege, with more than a dozen Pennsylvanians among those charged. One Pennsylvania man is facing federal charges in connection with the events.

Additionally, a Pennsylvania man was among five people who died during Wednesday's events.
