Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued In Eastern PA: Timeline, Impacts

Tornadoes, hail and strong wind gusts are possible Thursday in Eastern Pennsylvania, the National Weather Service said.

EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued across Eastern Pennsylvania through 9 p.m. Tornadoes, hail, heavy rain and strong wind gusts are possible as the system moves eastward across the region, the National Weather service said.

Nineteen Pennsylvania counties are included in the watch, including Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Philadelphia and beyond.

The National Weather Service is tracking severe weather Thursday across several adjacent states. In addition to Pennsylvania, the watch is currently in place in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and beyond.

A flash flood watch is in place in the Philadelphia region through Thursday evening.

The thunderstorms are expected to move eastward into the region by late afternoon into the evening. "These storms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall over a short period of time which may result in flash flooding," the National Weather Service said.

Rain is expected to continue through Friday, before clearing in time for the weekend. Then the heat moves in.

High temperatures both Saturday and Sunday are expected to hit the 90s.
