Storms, Severe Weather In Eastern PA Forecast: Latest Timing

There is a threat of some severe weather Monday into Tuesday in Eastern Pennsylvania. Here is the latest forecast and timing.

PENNSYLVANIA — There is a threat of some severe weather Monday into Tuesday along the East Coast, including in Eastern Pennsylvania. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, saying thunderstorms are possible Monday and Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, a front that extends from the Great Lakes will move eastward off the Northeast coast by Tuesday evening. The front is expected to produce showers and thunderstorms. That risk of thunderstorms for the Northeast and northern Mid-Atlantic exists through Tuesday.

"The hazards associated with these thunderstorms are frequent lightning, severe thunderstorm wind gusts, hail, and a few tornadoes," according to information from the National Weather Service Prediction Center. "The severe thunderstorm threat weakens a bit on Tuesday along the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast."

Temperatures will feel very hot and muggy Monday, with a heat advisory in place in some parts of the Philadelphia region through 8 p.m.

Additionally, tropical storm Claudette is moving out over the Atlantic off the Northeast coast. The storm is now over the ocean, and it poses no further threat to the rest of the East Coast, according to The Weather Channel.

The storm is blamed for 13 deaths in Alabama, including 8 children. Ten of the fatalities resulted from a 15-car crash. Two people died when a tree fell on their house and another person died in a car that was swept into floodwaters, according to AccuWeather.

Here is the forecast:

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 87. South wind 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. South wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. High near 80. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. Northwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 77. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.
