Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Cummings: I was born into the pest control industry so to speak. My father worked for 25 years in the industry and when I was in college looking for a career, I came to work for Viking because of the relationships he built with the leadership of Viking during his time in the industry.

Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?

Cummings: Continually exceed our customers’ expectations.

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?

Cummings: The biggest challenge I have faced in my career with Viking was after 17 years in 2017, we became a part of the Anticimex Corporation. There were many challenges for us as a company to integrate new technology and procedures into our current business model. Although challenging to start, this became a positive experience that has allowed us to continue our growth in the pest control market and provide our team with new opportunities and possibilities.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Cummings: The relationships I have built with my coworkers over my 20 years with Viking. I have worked with many members of my work family for 10-20 years and have been able to learn from them and grow alongside them.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?

Cummings: The hard work and dedication from our employees have made Viking what it is today. We have hundreds of years of experience within Viking and utilize what we have learned to exceed our customers expectations.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?

Cummings: Never be afraid to admit you made a mistake. Use your failures to create positives and learn from the mistakes.

Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?

Cummings: On August 1, we launched our inside sales team to help provide our customers with faster response to meet their needs. We are also very excited about the SMART pest control products being created by Anticimex which is an intelligent pest control system that wirelessly monitors activity while communicating with our offices 24/7.

Patch: What special offers does Viking currently have?

Cummings: Viking offers year-round, free inspections for any pest, with a 24 hour call center. Services include free termite inspections, free Wood Destroying Insect Report (WDIR) for all yearly customers, and free general pest inspections for ants and mice.
