WXPN To Play Submitted 'Songs That Got Us Through The Year'

The public can submit the songs that got them through the past year to the radio station to mark one year since the pandemic started.

PHILADELPHIA — March 16 marks the one-year anniversary of the coronavirus pandemic hitting the Philadelphia area. And Philadelphia's WXPN radio station is asking listened to submit the songs that helped them get through the unprecedented year.

"WXPN knows that music has played an important part in helping us cope during the past 12 months of lockdowns and social distancing measures," the station said in a news release.

And with that, WXPN is planning a day of "Songs That Got Us Through The Year" programming.

The station is asking listeners to submit songs that helped them cope with all that occurred over the past year.

Listeners are asked to submit songs that brought comfort, connection, strength, inspiration, or joy, or maybe even got them on the virtual dance floor during the year.

One song can be submitted per listener, with a reason why the song was important to them.

Submissions are open until midnight Thursday, March 11.

On Tuesday, March 16, WXPN will feature these "Songs That Got Us Through the Year'' and the reasons behind them.
