PHILADELPHIA — A small dog was found stuffed into a closed plastic container outside the Pennsylvania SPCA headquarters in Philadelphia over the weekend. Now, the pro-animal group is raising money to help bring her back to health.

SPCA officials said the Yorkie, named Gertie, was found inside a plastic container with the lid on when temperatures were in excess of 90 degrees on Sunday outside the PSPCA's Erie Avenue headquarters.

Gertie, a senior dog, was covered with fleas and a coating of flea dirt, officials said.
