April's Full Supermoon: When You Can See It
The first of two 2021 supermoons is about to arrive.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The moon will turn full on April 26, and it's one of two supermoons that will occur in 2021.
When a supermoon occurs, the moon can appear as much as 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than a normal full moon, according to the Farmers' Almanac.
According to the most common definitions of the term, a supermoon occurs when the moon is at least 90 percent of the way to its perigee position at the same time it is in its “full” or “new” phase. An extreme perigean supermoon is when a full or new moon happens at the same time the moon is at perigee, the closest the moon comes to the earth in its elliptic orbit
