Former KDKA-TV Meteorologist Bob Kudzma Dies

He was the station's chief meteorologist for decades.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Bob Kudzma, the New Hampshire native who was the chief meteorologist at KDKA-TV for more than three decades, has died at age 81.

KDKA-AM radio first reported Mr. Kudzma's death.

Mr. Kudzma worked at KDKA from 1968 to 2002, competing against another Pittsburgh weather forecasting legend, Joe DeNardo, who worked for WTAE-TV. Mr. Kudzma, a longtime Bethel Park resident, also was a bus driver for the Bethel Park School District.

Before arriving at KDKA, the only TV station where he ever worked, Mr. Kudzma was a meteorologist for United Airlines in Chicago. He also was a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.
