Former Steelers Pro Bowl Player Dies

The ex-Steeler died Wednesday at the age of 54.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Carlton Haselrig died Wednesday after collapsing at his home in Johnstown. He was 54.

Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees told the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat that the death is

believed to be of natural causes. An autopsy will be performed.

A collegiate wrestler who won six NCAA Division II wrestling championships at Pitt-Johnstown, Haselrig was drafted by the Steelers in the 12th round of the 1989 NFL despite having not played football since high school.

He spent four years with the Steelers and one season with the New York Jets and was a first-time All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection with the Steelers in 1992.
