Greg Eide, Longtime Owner Of Eide's Entertainment, Dies At 69.

The longtime owner of the legendary Pittsburgh comics and record shop died of coronavirus complications.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Greg Eide, known for decades for operating a shop specializing in comic books, records and other entertainment products, has died at 69 of coronavirus complications.

"With heavy hearts, we lost our fearless leader this morning to COVID-19," a post on the store's Facebook page. "There will not be any viewing or funeral, per Greg's wishes. We are all at a
loss for words."

According to the Facebook page, Eide's Entertainment is the oldest comic shop in the country still under original ownership. Founded Mr. Eide in 1972, it exists today as a four floor building in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Mr. Eide opened his initial store in Etna, then moved it to Federal Street on the North Shore on the current location of PNC Park. The shop then moved to its current location.

The store's future is unclear.
