Health Department Closes Pittsburgh-Area Club

The Allegheny County Health Department has shut down a Pittsburgh-area club for numerous health problems.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has closed Club Elegance in Braddock for numerous health violations.

A recent inspection found an ongoing and active sewage backup in the basement and several
inches of raw sewage covering the basement floor.

Additional violations included home-prepared foods, improper cooling of food, improper hot holding temperatures, improper cold holding temperatures, lack of adequate facilities to maintain temperature, lack of date marking of prepared foods, lack of an adequate probe-type thermometer, inadequate cross contamination prevention, absence of a grease trap, inadequate handwashing facilities, improper use of toxic items, lack of a certified food protection manager, failure to protect food, utensils, and equipment from environmental contamination, use of
non-commercial equipment, improper disposal of fryer grease on ground outside of the business and damage to the club's floors, walls, and ceiling.
