High Winds Downing Power Lines, Utility Poles Around Pittsburgh
The high winds are causing problems around Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania.
PITTSBURGH, PA — High winds early Friday were causing power outages and even downing utility poles in the Pittsburgh metro area.
Downed wires and a fallen pole prompted the closure of Robinson Street between Allequippa Street and Wadsworth Street in Oakland. In Harrison, downed lines were reported at the intersection of Freeport Road and Argonne Drive.
The National Weather Service has extended the wind advisory for southwestern Pennsylvania until 6 p.m. today. Expect frequents winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 50 miles per hour.

The strongest winds are expected between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
