Longtime Pittsburgh Broadcaster Dies
Coronavirus has claimed the life of a veteran Pittsburgh broadcaster.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Pioneering Pittsburgh broadcaster Eleanor Schano has died.
Schano died of coronavirus, WTAE-TV reported.
Schano's career dated back to the 1950s, when she was still a Duquesne University student. She worked as a general assignment reporter and weather forecaster at WTAE from 1959 until 1970. She then moved to WIIC (now WPXI) until 1974, and was the station's first solo female anchor.

From 1975 to 1978, she was a news anchor at KDKA. She also had stints at WPGH, WQED and KQV radio.
Funeral arrangements were not immediately available.
