Major Change For Pittsburgh Catholics: New Bishop Appointed
The Holy See has announced the appointment of a new Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh bishop.

PITTSBURGH, PA ? The Holy See announced Wednesday morning that Pope Leo XIV has accepted the resignation of Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik and appointed his successor.
Zubik, who reached the mandatory retirement age of 75 last September, will be replaced by auxiliary Bishop Mark Eckman. He will be the 13th bishop of the diocese and will be installed during a special mass on June 14 at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland.
In a letter to diocesan clergy and staff this morning, Bishop Zubik wrote, ?I am both grateful and thrilled with this appointment. Bishop Eckman knows the diocese. And we know him as an exceptional pastor, and outstanding administrator ? truly an exemplary priest.?
