More Severe Storms Possible For Pittsburgh Area

PITTSBURGH, PA — With the cleanup from Sunday's damaging weather barely completed, southwestern Pennsylvania again is facing the threat of severe storms this evening, overnight and Saturday.

The National Weather Service says damaging winds will be the primary threat tonight, though there is also potential for large hail and isolated tornadoes. Flooding will be possible with training heavier thunderstorms.

The chance of precipitation this evening is 80 percent. The region could see as much as a half-inch of rain, with higher amounts possible in areas hit by slow-moving storms. The storms are most likely between 6 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday.

The threat for severe thunderstorms will continue into Saturday, though with a lesser chance. Damaging winds will be the primary threat, with the potential for large hail and isolated tornadoes. Flooding will continue to be possible with training heavier thunderstorms.

The chance of precipitation tomorrow is 70 percent. Expect rainfall amounts of a quarter of an inch with higher amounts again possible in locations hit by storms.
