FINDLAY, PA — Airlines serving Pittsburgh International Airport have signed off on a new terminal complex, paving the way for construction to begin over the summer and a formal groundbreaking for the massive project to occur this fall. The new terminal, which will replace the existing Landside Terminal, is expected to open in 2025.

The airlines agreed to a new seven-year seven-year operating deal that will enable the Allegheny County Airport Authority to issue bonds to pay for the $1.4 billion project.

“This approval is further proof of the airlines’ belief in the need for modernization, the strength of this market and their commitment to Pittsburgh,”authority CEO Christina Cassotis told Blue Sky, the airport's information website. “This is a huge, positive milestone, considering the impact of the pandemic and the uncertainty the industry has faced.”
