PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pirates have played horrible baseball this season as their latest rebuilding phase continues, but they do have several quality players. That was proven Thursday night as Adam Frazier learned he will be the starting second baseman in Major League Baseball's All-Star Game, which will be played July 13 at Coors Field in Denver.

Frazier joins Pirates Hall-of-Famer Bill Mazeroski as the only Pirates second baseman to start the midsummer classic.

Frazier, who edged the Braves' Ozzie Albies and the Dodgers' Gavin Lux in the second phase of fan voting, is having the best season of his career. He currently is hitting .326 following the Bucs Thursday loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The All-Star Game could be one of the final times fans get to see Frazier in a Pirates uniform. He has repeatedly been mentioned as a trade candidate as the Bucs continue to deal veteran players for minor league prospects, and he could be gone by the July 31 trading deadline.
