Pitt Police Officer Dies

A veteran University of Pittsburgh police officer has died after a lingering illness.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A six-year veteran of the University of Pittsburgh police force has died after a three-year battle with cancer.

Edward Carmack, 49, of Scott Township, also was a police officer in Charleston, SC, and the CIA headquarters in Washington D.C. At Pitt, he was a detective and SWAT team member.

Mr. Carmack was a 1990 graduate of Chartiers Valley High School and attended college at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
