Pittsburgh 4th Of July 2021: What's Open, Closed Around Town

Here's your Patch guide to navigating the holiday before the fireworks.

PITTSBURGH, PA - With Independence Day rapidly approaching, you might be wondering what facilities will be open, closed or operating on a different schedule. Wonder no more. Patch has compiled a list that should answer any questions you might have.

  • City, county, state and federal offices: Closed.
  • City refuse pickup: There will be no refuse, bulk waste or recycling collection on July 5 and collection will be pushed back one day for the rest of the week. If your scheduled day of collection is Monday, you will be serviced Tuesday, July 6; those usually serviced Tuesday will be serviced Wednesday; and so on through the week.
  • County parks facilities: All of them, including golf courses and pools, will be open regular hours on July 4 and July 5.
  • Port Authority of Allegheny County: Buses and the T will operate on holiday schedules. The Mon Incline runs from 8:45 a.m. to midnight; the Duquesne Incline will operate from 7 a.m. to 12:45 a.m.
  • Banks: Most are closed, but some supermarket branches will have limited hours.
  • Post offices: Closed. There will be no regular mail delivery.
  • Liquor stores: Stores will open at their scheduled time. All stores will close at 5 p.m.
  • Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh: All branches closed.
  • Pittsburgh senior centers: Closed.
  • Pittsburgh recreation centers: Closed.
