Pittsburgh Eagles Nest Hatching Confirmed
Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania says eaglet definitely has arrived.

The eaglet has arrived at the bald eagle nest in Pittsburgh’s Hays neighborhood.
The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania has confirmed what people who watch the nest on a popular live video feed have been stating on social media for the past several days: the much-anticipated egg hatching has occurred.
“Because the webcam cannot see into the rebuilt nest there is no visual confirmation of the hatch,” society spokeswoman Rachel Handel said. “However, the parents are exhibiting behaviors consistent with a hatch.”

As an example, Handel said they are bringing food into the nest, ripping it into small pieces and then leaning over to feed their offspring.
The birth ends a spell of bad luck for the new eagle parents.

They lost their nest and their first egg this year when their tree toppled during a February storm.. But they quickly produced a new egg after building a new nest in a nearby tree, which is why the hatching was so difficult to confirm. The webcam has only a partial view of the new nest.
Handel said the Audubon Society will continue to monitor the nest and will release images of the chick if when they become available.
