Pittsburgh Experiences Record Cold Temperatures
A freeze warning has been issued for Friday morning as well.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Pittsburgh experienced the coldest April 21 high temperature on record, according to the National Weather Service. The high only reached 40 degrees; the previous cold high temperature for the date was 41 in 1875.
Spring's sudden disappearance will extend into Friday. The weather service has issued a freeze warning from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, as temperatures are expected to dip into the upper 20s. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
More seasonal temperatures are expected to arrive soon, with highs in the low 60s over the weekend and as high as the low 80s by the middle of next week.
