Pittsburgh Gets Latest Spring Snow Accumulation In Years
It's almost May and it's snowing in southwestern Pennsylvania. That's just wrong.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The latest spring snow accumulation in 16 years occurred in southwestern Pennsylvania. The National Weather Service measured 1.1 inches of snow, the latest accumulation of an inch or more since 2005, when 1.6 inches was recorded on April 24th.

In addition to the snowfall, a freeze warning is in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday for southwestern Pennsylvania as temperatures are expected to fall into the mid-20s.The weather service advises taking steps to protect tender plants from the cold.
To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

The high temperature on Wednesday is only 39, with Thursday's high expected to be 49. More seasonal temperatures return on Friday, with a high near 60.
