MOON TOWNSHIP, PA ? Pittsburgh International Airport recorded its busiest month since 2004 in September, with more than 831,000 passengers traveling through the facility.
Blue Sky News,the airport's online website, reported the September number represented an 8.5 percent increase over last September. It also was more than 40,000 passengers more than passed through the airport in pre-pandemic September 2019.
Airport traffic year-t0-date is up 9.7 percent, with more than 7.5 million passengers thus far this year. Total year-to-date passengers at the airport have been the busiest since 2007, according to Blue Sky News.

Airport officials have expressed optimism the facility could see a total of 10 million passengers in 2024, the last full year of the airport's current configuration. A new terminal being built between the C and D concourses of the existing airside building is slated to open sometime in the second half of 2025.
