Pittsburgh Nonprofits And Universities Pledge Millions To City

PITTSBURGH, PA — The city on Thursday announced agreements with the city's corporate community and largest philanthropies to funnel millions of dollars into areas of need over the next five years.
Under the plan, called OnePGH:
- UPMC will invest $40 million in a new affordable housing program and commit an additional $5 million per year to OnePGH initiatives to be determined each year.
- Highmark Health will invest $5 million per year to focus to address social, economic and health care needs.
- Carnegie Mellon University will spend $4 million over five years in community recreation and arts projects and expanded education outreach and entrepreneurship programming; including STEM and arts and humanities resources.
- The University of Pittsburgh will invest $8 million over five years in community engagement centers; green infrastructure and programming for seniors at Citiparks healthy active living centers.
“Now more than ever we know that to solve the massive needs facing our city we need the corporate community, foundations, nonprofits and government to work together,"Mayor Bill Peduto said in a news release. "We also know that this model works, and will continue to deliver real help to Pittsburgh residents for generations to come."
