Pittsburgh At Risk For Severe Storms, Flooding

PITTSBURGH, PA —Strong to severe storms are forecast for Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania Wednesday as a strong cold front approaches the area. The National Weather Service says damaging winds will be the main threat, although small hail and localized flooding also is possible.
The main threat for severe weather will occur late this afternoon and evening.
The wet weather will stick around on Thursday. Excessive rainfall could lead to instances of flooding Thursday and Thursday night.

Today's high temperature will be near 86. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts will be as much as a quarter of an inch, with higher amounts possible during storms.
Showers and storms will continue overnight, with as much as three quarters of an inch of rain expected. The low will be around 69. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Heavy rain is expected Thursday, with up to one inch possible. The chance of rain is 90 percent. Expect much cooler temperatures, with a high near 74.
More showers and storms are expected Thursday night, with as much as three quarters of an inch of precipitation predicted. The chance of rain is 80 percent.
Showers also are possible on Friday.
